Position DescriptionThe Department of Nutritional Sciences in the College of Health and Human Sciences at Texas Tech University is seeking applications for a full-time, 9-month, tenure-acquiring Assistant Professor Neuroscience to begin September 1, 2025. This position will have a dual appointment with the newly established Human Molecular Aging Center (HMAC) and the Department of Nutritional Sciences.

Position Description
The Department of Nutritional Sciences in the College of Health and Human Sciences at Texas Tech University is seeking applications for a full-time, 9-month, tenure-acquiring Assistant Professor Neuroscience to begin September 1, 2025. This position will have a dual appointment with the newly established Human Molecular Aging Center (HMAC) and the Department of Nutritional Sciences.

Major/Essential Functions
As a faculty member in the Department of Nutritional Sciences, you will be expected to:
  1. Focus on establishing research programs to enhance the understanding how nutrition impacts the aging process and underlying mechanisms.
  2. Teach undergraduate and graduate courses, face-to-face and online.
  3. Mentor MS and PhD students and assist in recruitment of graduate students.
  4. Develop and maintain a high impact scholarly research program via publications and external funding.
  5. Active participation and collaboration with the Human Molecular Aging Center.
  6. Engage in outreach activities and perform service to the department, college, university, and the profession including involvement and leadership in professional associations.


Required Qualifications
An earned doctorate in Neuroscience with experience in nutrition or metabolic health related research.
  1. Demonstrated record of effective teaching at the college level, commensurate with rank.
  2. Demonstrated record of applying for extramural research grants, commensurate with rank.
  3. Demonstrated record of peer reviewed publications, commensurate with rank.


Preferred Qualifications
In addition to the required qualifications, individuals with the following preferred qualifications are strongly encouraged to apply:
  1. Demonstrated ability to utilize learning management systems including online course delivery.
  2. Research experience in studying the impact of nutrition on aging process as it relates to neuropsychiatric and neurodegenerative disorders in pre-clinical models.
  3. Demonstrated record of collaborative research projects.
  4. Extramural funding received as principal investigator, commensurate with rank.
  5. Peer reviewed publications in capacity as principal author (first or last author or corresponding author), commensurate with rank.
  6. Experience mentoring graduate and undergraduate students, commensurate with rank.
